Year 3
Autumn 25-26
This term, Year 3 have been learning about the characteristics of humans and animals. They have focused on understanding the difference between vertebrates and invertebrates and how animals are grouped based on their features. The children also revisited their knowledge of animal groups such as mammals, reptiles, birds, amphibians and insects.
Year 3 enjoyed a brilliant Science lesson with Miss Ingham, learning all about rock cycle - using chocolate! We created sedimentary rocks by layering chocolate shavings (minerals), metamorphic rocks by pressing them together with heat and pressure and igneous rocks by melting and cooling with chocolate.
Spring 25-26
This term, Y3 have been learning about different forces such as: pushes and pulls. They have begun to measure these using force meters in Newtons. The children investigated magnetic forces by comparing the North and South poles and discovered that a magnet doesn't need to be in contact with another object for the forces to act. Y3 also spent time learning about the uses for magnets in our everyday lives in metals such as: copper, brass, steel, iron and aluminium. Take a look at their work below!
