Year 5

Autumn 25-26

Year 5 have been exploring the fascinating force of gravity. Through exciting experiments, they discovered how gravity pulls objects towards the Earth and even keeps the planets in orbit! Curiosity filled the classroom as they tested ideas, made predictions and thought like real scientists.

Spring 25-26

Our fantastic Year 5 pupils have been busy Scientists this week, carrying out a solubility investigation. They tested different substances, made careful predictions, observed what happened and recorded their results like true researchers. We were so impressed with their teamwork, curiosity and thoughtful Scientific discussions throughout the investigation.

This term, Y5 have been learning about materials, particularly thermal insulators that keep a temperature regulated and electrical insulators that do not allow electricity to pass through it. They investigated different materials by grouping them according to transparency, magnetism and whether they dissolve in a liquid to form a solution. Children understand now that some changes in materials are reversible whereas others are irreversible. Take a look at their work below!
