Number day 2026

Year 6 had a fantastic day celebrating Number Day!
We explored 3D shapes by designing and building our own nets, investigated tessellations through a fun art vs maths lesson, and challenged ourselves with a game of More or Less. To finish the day, we put our problem-solving skills to the test by cracking codes and solving puzzles.
A brilliant day of learning, creativity, and teamwork all round! 🔢🎉

Safer Internet Day

Theme: “Smart tech, safe choices – Exploring the safe and responsible use of AI”

This week we’ve been celebrating Safer Internet Day 2026, a nationwide event bringing together schools, families and organisations to promote the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology.

This year’s theme, “Smart tech, safe choices – Exploring the safe and responsible use of AI,” focused on helping children build the skills and confidence they need to navigate smart technology safely. With AI becoming part of everyday life — from chatbots and voice assistants to creative and learning tools — it’s more important than ever that young people understand how to make informed decisions online.

During our computer lessons this week the children have explored:
🔹 How AI can be used positively
🔹 How to stay safe when using smart tools
🔹 What responsible use of emerging technologies looks like
🔹 How to identify risks and make safe choices online

💛 Thank You for Supporting Children’s Mental Health Week! 💛

A huge thank you to all our parents and carers for sending children into school wearing yellow on Thursday. Your support helped us create a warm, united message of hope and positivity.

On Thursday, we marked Children’s Mental Health Week 2026  focusing on the theme “This Is My Place.”
The theme encouraged children to explore the idea of belonging—in their friendships, in school and within the wider community. Feeling that they truly belong plays a powerful role in supporting their mental health and emotional wellbeing.

Throughout the day, the children have:
✨ Talked about what it means to feel part of a community (friends, family, school, church and wider)
✨ Reflect on where they feel safe, valued and connected
✨ Taken part in activities designed to help them recognise the importance of kindness, inclusion and supporting one another

Thank you again for your enthusiasm and for helping us shine a bright, joyful yellow spotlight on children’s mental health.
Together, we’re helping every child feel that: “This is my place.” 💛

Autumn Term Vehicle (September 2025)

Year 6 WW2 Theme Day was an incredible success! Our pupils stepped back in time to experience life during World War II, creating official documentation (which were checked regularly!), designing and testing Spitfires in a thrilling flying competition ✈️, and even discovering the fascinating world of code breaking by making their own secret codes and trying to crack each other’s.🔐 They took part in air raid practices, lifted spirits with singing, and finished the day with an energetic Boot Camp led by Bee Active. 💪A huge thank you to all parents for the amazing effort with costumes – they helped make the day authentic and unforgettable.

Sparks were flying in Year 6 during our Science this week! Our young scientists explored how circuits work — experimenting with wires, bulbs, and batteries — before using scientific symbols to record their findings like real engineers. Brilliant work, Year 6!

Year 6 Visit RAF Cosford Museum: A Journey Through the Skies and History

Year 6 pupils had the exciting opportunity to visit the RAF Cosford Museum — a place rich in aviation history and wartime heritage. As part of their history curriculum, the visit helped to bring to life their learning about World War II and the role of the Royal Air Force.

During the day, pupils explored several of the museum's impressive hangars, each packed with real aircraft from different eras. From iconic WWII planes like the Spitfire and the Hurricane, to Cold War jets and modern military aircraft, the children were fascinated by the scale and design of each machine. Guided by museum staff and their own curiosity, they learned how each aircraft played a role in defending Britain’s skies.

A highlight of the day was discovering what life was like on the home front during WWII. Through engaging exhibits and interactive displays, Year 6 found out about air raids, rationing, evacuation, and the daily lives of both civilians and RAF personnel. Trying on a range of military uniform added to the experience.

The visit sparked thoughtful questions and lively discussions, with pupils making links between the historical artefacts and the lessons they’ve studied in class. It was a powerful, immersive experience that deepened their understanding of the past and helped them appreciate the courage and resilience of those who lived through such challenging times.

A memorable and educational experience that brought history to life in a truly inspiring way!
