Confirmation

During Year 6, our children have the special opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Confirmation is an important step in their journey of faith, when they renew the promises made at Baptism and are strengthened by the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Parents and carers play an important role in supporting their child as they prepare for this Sacrament. Our school and parish work closely together to guide and encourage the children throughout their preparation.

Children are prepared for Confirmation in school by Miss Robertson, with the support of our wider school and parish community. Father Doyle, our Parish Priest, celebrates the Sacrament of Confirmation with the children.

As part of their preparation, children deepen their understanding of their Catholic faith and learn more about the Holy Spirit. They explore the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit:

  • Wisdom
  • Understanding
  • Counsel
  • Fortitude
  • Knowledge
  • Piety
  • Fear of the Lord

Children also choose a Confirmation saint who inspires them to live out their faith and a sponsor who will support and encourage them on their continuing faith journey.

Confirmation is a joyful celebration for our children, their families, our school and our parish community as they take this important step in becoming mature disciples of Christ.
